Lambert "Jack" W. Frost, 85, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2008, at Golden Living Center in Lansing.

Jack was born July 3, 1923, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Earl and Josephine (Lutters) Frost.
On Oct. 10, 1948, he married Doris L. Miller at the First Christian Church, Leavenworth.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris Frost; his daughter, Janet Pelton and husband Michael. He is also survived by two grandchildren, John Pelton and wife Christine and Becky Blankenship and husband Michael; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Kathryn and Conner; and two brothers, Edward Frost and Robert Holmgren.

During World War II, Jack helped to clear the airfield at Fort Leavenworth while working with the Civilian Conservation Corps and he also helped build B-25s.

He worked for the United States Postal Service for 25 years, retiring in 1983.

He was a member of the First Christian Church, Leavenworth, where he was also a Boy Scout leader.

Jack enjoyed HO model trains and playing checkers, but he especially enjoyed listening to his wife Doris play the piano.

The funeral service was Friday, Aug. 22, 2008, at the Davis Funeral Chapel in Leavenworth. Chaplain Charles Davis officiated. Burial followed in the Mount Muncie Cemetery.
