When it comes to the Lansing football players and coaches right now, there is one solitary focus.

A year ago, the Lansing Lions went an impressive 40-5 and took fourth in the 5A state volleyball tournament. Although coach Julie Slater is confident her girls will continue to be successful, the team on the court will look quite different in 2008.

If you just can’t wait for fall sports to start, you’ll be happy to hear things are already getting underway.

Two years ago, a talented group of freshmen girls joined Lansing girls’ tennis coach Rachel Elkins’ team. Now, as the same girls enter their junior season, Elkins says she’s looking for big things from the group.

With state medalists Lauren Jaqua returning for the girls’ team and Brandon Craig back for the boys’ squad, Lansing cross country coach Errol Logue said he is pretty confident both teams will be successful in the 2008 campaign.
